Respect our Working Farms & Vineyards

Protect our Heritage and Future. Love the Land!

R-E-S-P-E-C-T... Find out what it means to Napa Valley!

Whether you bike, walk, run, or drive in Napa Valley, we invite YOU to be a partner in AG RESPECT!

AG RESPECT is your roadside/trailside guide to enjoying our roads and trails responsibly — especially where working farms and trails are side-by-side. Respect the farmers. Protect our heritage and future. Love the land!

AG RESPECT invites everyone traveling in Napa Valley — whether on our roads or on our growing network of recreational and commuter trails — to learn more about our unique agricultural traditions and how important it is for each of us to do our part to protect our farming heritage.

AG RESPECT guidelines provide a starting place for Napa Valley travelers — visitors and residents alike — to appreciate the needs of the farming community throughout the year and the importance of respecting boundaries and rules. This cooperation keeps our farms and vineyards hard at work, cultivating the land and cultivating our shared future.

The idea for an AG RESPECT program grew out of a series of planning and problem-solving sessions among the ag-interested members of the Napa Valley Vine Trail Coalition board. They were spurred by the pending publication of the NCTPA’s Countywide Bicycle Plan (2012). Some growers voiced concerns that the county’s growing network of commuter and recreational trails — including the Vine Trail — might bring an increase in safety or trespass incidents. The team worked cooperatively with the County to ensure that the Right-to-Farm language sensitive to Napa Valley’s particular agricultural situation was included in the Countywide Bike Plan.

AG RESPECT & the VINE TRAIL: This program remains under the auspices of the Napa Valley Vine Trail Coalition, but its members are quick to say the guidelines are not just for trail users, but for drivers, too!
