Together, we’re building connections.

In 2008, a grass-roots coalition was formed inspired by the vision of the late wine industry leader Tom Shelton, who dreamed of a safer trail to teach his kids to ride their bikes. By 2012, the ‘Yountville Mile’ was completed and in 2016, 12.5 miles connected the city of Napa to Yountville utilizing the Napa Valley Wine Train’s easement. In 2025 alone, two new sections were opened connecting Vallejo to American Canyon (7.5 miles) and St. Helena to Calistoga (8.2 miles), again using voluntary easements. Today, the Coalition and local government is working to complete 14 miles in two important sections — Yountville to St. Helena and American Canyon to the City of Napa.

Yountville to St. Helena

Currently in the engineering stage, the 11 mile-section from Yountville to St. Helena will connect the 12-miles section from Kennedy Park in the City of Napa to the 8.2 mile-section from St. Helena to Calistoga.

Vista Carneros View

Vista Carneros (American Canyon to Napa’s Kennedy Park)

The 3-mile Vista Carneros connection will join the existing Riversound Vine Trail segment through Napa’s Kennedy Park and connect the south segment to American Canyon on Devlin Road. The route moves along an estuary feeding the Napa River, underneath the Highway 29 Butler Bridge, along the Napa River to Devlin Road, and proceeding south to Airport Road, where it joins the existing Vine Trail running south through American Canyon and Vallejo to the Vallejo Ferry. It traverses two conservation priority areas: Agricultural Lands of Napa County and Napa Valley-Napa River Corridor.
