INITIATIVES

Working to enhance the trail.

Out of Napa Valley Vine Trail Coalition’s mission and values have evolved several initiatives whose purpose is to progress the Coalition’s work. It is through these initiatives that the organization is able to spread awareness of Napa Valley’s unique agricultural position and cultural and historical relevance, as well as maintain a world-class trail experience.

AG RESPECT

AG RESPECT is your roadside/trailside guide to enjoying our roads and trails responsibly — especially where working farms and trails are side-by-side. Respect the farmers. Protect our heritage and future. Love the land!

Pollinator Garden

Pollinator Gardens

Napa Valley Vine Trail Coalition’s pollinator garden initiative brings vibrant, habitat-rich landscaping to the Vine Trail while strengthening the health of the Napa Valley ecosystem, and enhancing the trail experience for everyone who uses it. Under NVVTC’s oversight and through the help of volunteers, four pollinator gardens have been installed along the Vine Trail so far, each designed to provide food and shelter for essential pollinators like bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. As opportunities arise, the Coalition has the potential to install additional gardens, expanding this living network of habitats along the corridor.

Trail Ambassadors

NVVTC’s Trail Ambassador program is a community-powered effort that helps make the Napa Valley Vine Trail safer, more welcoming, and easier to enjoy for everyone. Trail Ambassadors are a group of dedicated volunteers who pledge to be a friendly, helpful face on the trail—offering support, information, and a positive presence for walkers, runners, cyclists, families, and visitors alike.

At its heart, the Trail Ambassador program reflects NVVTC’s commitment to building not just a trail, but a thriving community resource: one where people feel supported, informed, and inspired to return again and again.

Education Sign on Napa Valley Vine Trail

Ed Signs

NVVTC’s educational signs help bring the Napa Valley Vine Trail to life by connecting trail users to the stories, places, and landscapes that make our community distinctive. Installed at key locations along the route, these signs identify local points of interest and provide engaging context about sites with particular historical, cultural, and agricultural or environmental significance. This program aligns with NVVTC’s broader vision for the Vine Trail as a connected community resource that supports recreation and active transportation while fostering appreciation and stewardship of Napa Valley.

More than simple wayfinding, the signs invite people to pause and learn—highlighting the region’s deep roots, evolving communities, and working landscapes.

A limited number of panels are available for sponsorship.

RAD (Rail Arts District)

Founded in 2016, the Rail Arts District Napa (RAD Napa) is envisioned as a free outdoor contemporary art museum. RAD Napa begins in Napa’s Oxbow District and continues northward for two miles along the Napa Valley Vine Trail bike and pedestrian path and the Napa Valley Wine Train tracks. Murals, sculptures, landscaping, and parks are just some of the examples of how these semi-industrial areas and neighborhoods are being enlivened and transformed by the district.

RAD Napa believes in the cultural, educational, and economic value of public art. RAD Napa is a 501c3 nonprofit organization conceptualized by the Napa Valley Wine Train and the Napa Valley Vine Trail and is enthusiastically supported by the City of Napa, and members of the local arts and business communities.
